London River the Movie

A poignant look at overcoming cultural and religious divides in the immediate aftermath of 7/7

Elizabeth (Brenda Blethyn), a dedicated Christian from a small farming community in Guernsey, decides to go London in the immediate aftermath of the 7/7 bombings after failing to hear from her daughter.

Elizabeth is put off by the confusion in the metropolis and above all by the predominantly Muslim neighbourhood where her daughter lived in Finsbury Park. Her fear and prejudice are cranked up when she discovers her daughter was converting to Islam and keeps bumping into Ousmane, (Sotigui Kouyate), a West African Muslim who has come from France to find his missing son.

In a climate of suspicion, Elizabeth and Ousmane must fight their preconceptions as they stand a better chance of finding their children together than apart.
